How to read guitar tabs for beginners?

If you are trying to read guitar tabs you need to by some books that have guitar tablature. This will make your learning experience better and simpler because you can look at the tablature and try playing your guitar.

The guitar tablature looks like a simple sheet of music that has six different lines. In the diagram each line represents the strings on your guitar and therefore you need to carefully take a look at the diagram and play accordingly.

When you are trying to learn guitar you need to take a quick look at the guitar tablature because the table certainly looks like your guitar and the six lines on the table are different kinds of strings that you will play in the future. The lines are named from A to E. You will see that the first and the last strings are termed as E because they are the thinnest strings on your guitar.

So, when you look at the diagram you will see that the first string is termed as E, and the one below it is D, C, B, A and the lowest one is E again. In some books the letters might be different so don’t get puzzled about it.

You will also notice that the lines in the diagrams are broken into 22 smaller hyphens and some will have a number on it. These numbers are the number of frets that you need to play. So if there is a number on your B string then you need to play that number of fret on the neck of the guitar and pull the string with the other hand and you will get the right sound that you are looking for.
